Damn, its like having a whole home depot parking lot worth of mexicans at your disposal, except they won't steal your merchandise! : DumbDuck44
If you're worried about people 'taking yur jerbs', you'd better worry about robots. Another decade or so and there won't be any manual labor left. Any job that doesn't require advanced human reasoning will be replaced with either robotics or software or a combination thereof. : mar svin

Schöne Grüße an #Verdi Amazon intends to increase its robot workforce to 10,000 by the end of 2014. CEO Jeff Bezos revealed the company's plans during a recent shareholder meeting, according to CNN Money. An Amazon spokeswoman noted that the "increase won't change the number of actual people employed." The online retailer currently uses about 1,000 robots in its warehouses. The machines are produced by Kiva Systems, a robot-based material handling company that Amazon acquired for approximately $775 million in 2012. : Daniel Stutz

Certains me demandent parfois à quoi peuvent servir dans la "vraie" vie les recherches sur les Systèmes Multi-Agents. En voici une illustration (productivité de l'entreprise de préparation de commande multipliée par 2). [Si vous n'aimez pas l'anglais allez à la 26ème seconde de la video]People sometimes ask me for real-life examples of the use of Multi-Agent Systems. Here is an industrial application where, among other benefits, the productivity is multiplied by two. : Cédric Herpson

Robots don't just do glamorous stuff like "terminations". No, many robots simply work from 9 to 5. Or from midnight to midnight actually. This #RobotChannel look at an Amazon distribution center reveals their industriousness. : Charles Hofacker
This is why McDonald's workers are striking for higher pay. Let me explain... McDonald's corporation is the one behind the strike. If they can get their own workers to strike, they then have justification to replace them with ROBOTS who WON'T strike, who won't spit in the food, who won't be late, who won't be scuzzy, dirty, tattooed scum of society lying thiefs. Get rid of all fast food workers, factory workers, stock clerks at Walmart, Kmart, grocery stores, Home Depot, etc. Who needs 'em! : Duh Enlightened One
Has science gone too far? : addeyyry
I am an engineer who designs some electronics and technology used in robots like these. Yes jobs will be lost at the bottom but gain at the middle. These robots have to be design, manufactured and maintained. However, low skill jobs are going to become far and few and everyone at the bottom skillwise will have to educate them selves so they can do the jobs in the middle. : buffteethr
So cool ! : Wideolink
Somebody must design the robots - others must build them, still others need to repair them. I would like to know something about that distribution of well paying jobs. Hence its not all bad news for employment. : Ted Spickler

I see problems with inventory. While these 'pods' are in motion, delivering an item to a pack station, the rest of the inventory on that 'pod' is unavailable for sale. That said, some inventory will be in perpetual motion, always looking for another location to call home so another item can be reserved for sale. The 'pod' would still be stocked by people ... and that is where the errors start. I have 12 years warehouse experience, 7 as an inventory control auditor. While the robot would eliminate the product puller, the stocking and packing to and from these 'pods' would still be done by humans. : Scott Mortimer
